Bang Bang, the celebrity tattoo artist behind some of Rihanna’s most iconic body art, revealed a surprisingly unconventional piece: a purple, red, yellow, green, and blue scribble adorning the pop star’s left upper leg – all designed by her three children, Rza, Riot, and Rocki Irish.
A tiny artist’s influence
The artwork, described as ‘abstract expressionist,’ emerged just days after Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s appearance at the Met Gala, where Rihanna stunned in a Margiela couture gown and a gravity-defying, living sculpture of hair. It seems the family’s artistic spirit was firmly in the air.
According to Bang Bang, the initial concept began with a sheet covered in Paw Patrol stickers – a deliberate choice by the children, apparently eschewing the familiar franchise for a more free-form aesthetic. The process, meticulously documented on Instagram, revealed a playful exchange between artist and mini-muse, punctuated by requests like, ‘Make sure my ass looks good in the main shots’ and a healthy dose of sunglasses and a hoodie obscuring Rihanna’s face.
A family canvas
This isn’t Rihanna’s first foray into collaborative tattooing. Bang Bang has been responsible for over nine of her tattoos, including the shark on her ankle (now concealed beneath a crown) and the delicate ‘rebelle fleur’ on her neck. The cascading stars that once defined her décolletage, also courtesy of Bang Bang, remain a prominent feature. But this latest addition feels different – a delightfully messy reflection of the Fenty dynasty’s inherent spontaneity.
