Delving into the creative process, Delevingne shared that the opening track of the album originated as a poem penned during her late teens or early twenties. “It was one of the first times I ever spoke about mental health,” she explained, highlighting the deeply personal nature of her work. Much of the material stems from her Notes app – a chaotic archive of unfiltered thoughts and ideas, now repurposed as building blocks for her music. “Going through it all was a real experience,” she added, suggesting a period of profound self-reflection.
A sonic vision
The two lead singles showcase a distinct soundscape, marked by a willingness to experiment and push boundaries. “I Forgot,” born from the initial weeks of recording, is described as a raw, emotionally exposed track. “Out of My Head,” conceived as a visual, explores themes of dissociation and the need to find solace amidst personal struggles.
“It’s about that feeling when you go home and you disassociate in the moment,” Delevingne explained. “Getting ‘out of my head’ is also an affirmation that I have daily: I try to practice meditation to constantly do that.”
